Happy Teachers Day 2024: Why is World Teachers' Day celebrated on October 5 all over the world?

World Teachers Day 2023:  Guru has great importance in our life, who takes a person from ignorance to knowledge. Teacher's Day is celebrated every year to honor the Guru. World Teachers' Day is celebrated every year on 05 October. However, in India, Teachers' Day is celebrated a month before this i.e. on 05 September on the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

Why is World Teachers' Day celebrated on 5 October?

In fact, in 1966, ILO/UNESCO recommended celebrating World Teachers' Day keeping in mind the rights, responsibilities, recruitment, employment, teaching and learning conditions of teachers. However, it took almost 28 years to get recognition.

It was a part of the Inter-Governmental Conference held in Paris by UNESCO, which in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO) recognized World Teachers' Day on 05 October 1994, looking at the status of teachers. Therefore, this day is celebrated every year on 05 October. The first World Teachers' Day was celebrated on 05 October 1994.
