Singh that he was going to make a film. If the film is a hit, he will not return, but if it is not, then take him back to the show.

Actor Dayanand Shetty, who played the character of Daya in this show, told in an interview that Ashutosh Gowariker had done a lot of planning for 'Lagaan'. All the meetings related to this film used to happen on the set of 'CID' itself in between shots. They had a separate room on the set, where 8-10 people used to sit. After giving the shot, they used to ask the director if their work was done? If the answer was yes, then they used to go to that room for a meeting for 'Lagaan'. Later, when the next shot was recorded, they were called again that the shot is ready. So they used to come and shoot their part again.

'Lagaan' was nominated for 'Oscar'

His decision to leave 'CID' for 'Lagaan' proved to be quite correct. This film also went to the Oscars. This film was nominated in the 74th Academy Awards. The film also earned a lot at the box office. According to Box Office India, the film made in a budget of 24 crores collected 65 crores worldwide. Along with Aamir, stars like Gracy Singh, Raghubir Yadav, Yashpal Sharma and Pradeep Ram Singh Rawat were also seen in 'Lagaan'.
